The top five states said to most benefit from hospital expenditures putting money back into their economies are California, New York, Texas, Florida, and Pennsylvania.

Researchers at the Department of Health Policy and Management at the Texas A&M School of Public Health, the University of Houston, and Lamar University developed two mathematical models to better understand the expenses and logistics of establishing drone operation centers, the number and type of drones needed, and the best distribution routes.
- According to a recent news release, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has launched an innovation challenge to motivate the development of medical devices, such as diagnostic tests and digital health technologies, to prevent and treat opioid addiction. The federal agency says it will work closely with chosen applicants to hasten product development. Submissions will be accepted through September 30, 2018, and the FDA plans to announce the selected applicants in November 2018.
- A Forbes Technology Council article by Rich Krueger, CEO of Hospital IQ, looks at the effective support capabilities derived from introducing technology into hospital operational decision making. “Through the power of predictive and prescriptive analytics,” states Krueger, “hospital leaders can use an integrated dataset compiled from existing IT systems to make staffing and capacity decisions that improve operating performance.”
